Southern Valley Alliance Receives Old National Bank Support for Housing Program

Southern Valley Alliance (SVA) was one of 13 organizations to receive a grant from the Old National Bank Foundation this spring.  SVA is a nonprofit organization providing domestic abuse services in Scott and Carver counties.

“Survivors of domestic violence are strong people who need our support to get away from their dangerous situations. SVA’s transitional housing project is a critical component to providing the stability their families need and Old National Bank is honored to be a part of this effort,” said Corrie Maki Knudson, Old National Bank Foundation board member.

Old National Bank Foundation, philanthropic arm of Old National Bank (NASDAQ: ONB), announced its quarterly contributions totaling $165,000 to 13 organizations throughout Old National’s Minnesota market.

Three times a year, the Foundation presents grants to organizations throughout its footprint that fit the following strategic initiatives: Affordable housing, education achievement, economic development, financial literacy and workforce development.

With the support of this new program, SVA will provide safe and affordable housing and long-term support services to those who are homeless after escaping abuse. Services can include support with counseling, childcare, school enrollment, job training, education, transportation, and more.

“Survivors will be given the space and support to reclaim their lives and build stability for themselves and their families,” says Christie Larson, SVA’s Executive Director. “Without programs like this, survivors must often choose between returning to their abuser or facing homelessness.”
